Tapas Amarendra Roy is a veteran Indian political leader currently serving as an MLA in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. He represents the Baranagar constituency in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Originally elected as a Congress MLA in 1996, he later joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC/TMC) and was elected multiple times from Baranagar and other constituencies. Roy has held significant roles including Minister of State for Planning and Statistics in West Bengal. Known for his focus on development, social work, and grassroots organization, he was also the deputy chief whip of the TMC. Recently, Roy resigned from TMC and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Tapas Roy is current MLA from Baranagar [West Bengal]. He belongs to Trinamool Congress [ TC ].
