Subrata Saroj Maitra

Subrata Maitra (Kanchan) is a current Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Berhampore constituency in Murshidabad district, West Bengal. He represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and secured his seat in the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections by defeating the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate with a significant margin. Notably, Maitra is the first BJP leader to hold the Berhampore seat since India's independence. Apart from his political role, he is known as a social worker and businessman, actively engaged in development and social welfare initiatives in his constituency. His leadership focuses on grassroots development, youth engagement, and community upliftment in West Bengal politics 2024.
