He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Lakhdeersinhji Engineering College, Morbi, in 1982 and worked for about 10 years as an Assistant Engineer at the Gujarat Maritime Board before dedicating his life to public service in 1993.

Arjun Modhwadia is married to Hiraben, a farmer and social worker, and they have a son and a daughter. Despite his demanding political career, he values family bonds and close relationships which he attributes as a source of personal growth.
