Diganta Barman was born on November 26, 1964, in Assam to the family of Late Dr. Bhumidhar Barman, a prominent political leader and former Chief Minister of Assam. His mother is Malati Barman. Barman completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Gauhati University in 1987. Before entering politics, he was an Assam Civil Services (ACS) officer, which provided him with a strong foundation in administrative and leadership skills.
