Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is a significant political and administrative body governing the largest district in Assam, India—Karbi Anglong. Established with autonomous status under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, KAAC administers two full-fledged districts: Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. The council consists of 30 members, with 26 elected representatives and 4 nominated members to ensure minority representation. KAAC is led by a Chief Executive Member and supported by an executive committee. The council oversees key development initiatives including tribal welfare, infrastructure, social programs, and governance aimed at preserving the cultural and political identity of the indigenous Karbi people. KAAC plays a vital role in regional development, social work, and empowering the local youth and women.
