K. Shanthakumari is an experienced Indian politician serving as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Kongad (SC) constituency in Palakkad district, Kerala since May 2021. She is a senior member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and has played a vital role in Kerala's political and social spheres.

Born on March 18, 1971, in Thenkurissi, Palakkad district, to Shri Kuttiraman and Smt. Kunchi, Shanthakumari completed her Bachelor of Arts and LLB degrees which paved the way for her career as an advocate and politician. She has served in several leadership roles, including as District President and State Vice President of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), and held multiple key positions in the Palakkad District Panchayat, including Chairperson of the Welfare Standing Committee.

Her political journey is marked by steadfast grassroots activism focused on women empowerment, social justice, and community welfare. She has been actively involved in health camps, education initiatives, and development programs targeting marginalized sections. K. Shanthakumari was born on March 18, 1971, in Thenkurissi, Palakkad district, Kerala, to Shri Kuttiraman and Smt. Kunchi, a family recognized for its community involvement and social commitment. Raised with strong values of integrity, service, and dedication, she credits her upbringing for fostering a deep sense of social responsibility and empathy.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bishop Moore College, Mavelikkara, and later earned an LLB from Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, which laid the foundation for her career as an advocate and political leader. Influenced by Indian reformers and principles of equality and justice, Shanthakumari upholds a rights-based approach in her public and personal life.

Married to Shri Madhavan, she is a proud mother to two sons, Midhun Shanth and Syam Madhav. Despite her demanding political career, she values family bonds, often attributing her personal growth and strength to their support.
