Saji's political journey began with the Students' Federation of India (SFI), where he served as secretary and president of the Alappuzha district committee. He rose through the ranks of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and held several key positions, including secretary of the CPI(M) Alappuzha district committee and president of the Alappuzha District Sports Council.
