Sharanu Salagar is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. In May 2021, he was elected as a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Basavakalyan (constituency). He defeated Mala B. Narayanrao of Indian National Congress by 20,629 votes in 2021 By-elections.

  • Karnataka is witnessing a direct contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. However, the Janata Dal - Secular (JD-S) is eyeing the kingmakers status. Among the top candidates who are in the fray in Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 are former state CM Siddaramaiah, who is contesting from Varuna seat.
  • CM Basavaraj Bommai is the sitting MLA from Shiggaon seat and will be trying to retain the constituency. DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Congress president is contesting from Kanakpura seat. From Ramanagra seat, the JD-S has given ticket to former CM HD Kumaraswamys son - Nikhil Kumaraswamy. Apart from these, several other noted leaders are also contesting.
  • Voting on all 224 seats of Karnataka Assembly is scheduled for May 10 and results will be declared on May 13. The results of Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 will be crucial before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP is hoping to do well in the state polls ahead of general elections as it will set the tone for the party in South India.
