He has served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka twice and is known for his significant contributions to state politics. In the 2023 Karnataka Assembly Elections, he won from Channapatna against BJP’s C.P. Yogeshwar by a margin of 20,000 votes.

Kumaraswamy was born on December 16, 1959, in Haradanahalli, Hassan district, Karnataka, to H.D. Deve Gowda, a former Prime Minister of India, and Chennamma. He completed his primary education in a government school in Hassan district and pursued his high school education at MES Educational Institution in Jayanagar, Bangalore. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from National College Basavanagudi, Bangalore.

Residing in Bangalore, Kumaraswamy is married to Anitha Kumaraswamy, who is also involved in politics and business. They have a son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who has followed his father’s footsteps into politics and the film industry. Apart from his political career, Kumaraswamy is also known as a film producer and businessman, adding to his multifaceted profile.
